Dear Friends of Reading to Kids,

Thanks to everyone who came out to read at the January Reading Clubs. 433 volunteers and 1,159 kids participated in last Saturday's reading clubs.  We nearly doubled last January's student attendance of 597 kids!

Thanks also to everyone who attended our Annual Taskforce Potluck, Meeting, and Open House on Monday.  If you were unable to attend, but are interested in getting more involved with Reading to Kids, click here to learn more about the Taskforce or call the office at (310) 479-7455.

SIGN UP FOR ESCRIP AND RALPHS COMMUNITY CONTRIBUTION PROGRAM!

Did you know you could support Reading to Kids just by shopping at the grocery store or using your credit card? 

eScrip and Ralphs Community Contribution Program are NO COST ways for you to donate to Reading to Kids simply by shopping with selected merchants. 

All you have to do is go online and register your card.  When you use that card at a participating store or service provider, the store will donate a percentage of your purchases to Reading to Kids!

There is no special card and participating costs you nothing; all you have to do after you register is shop at participating stores like you already do!

eScrip

With eScrip, you can register your grocery card, credit card, or debit/ATM card.  Participating stores include Vons, Pavilions, Macy’s, and much more.  To sign up, click here.  Reading to Kids group ID number is 3821833.

LATEST READING TO KIDS STATISTICS

Through January 2008: 

1,435 people are current volunteers of Reading to Kids (volunteered at least once within the last six months) 

5,769 people are current subscribers to our email update list.

Since May 1999...

7,625 people have volunteered as readers with Reading to Kids; 
9,704 hardcover books have been donated to the schools' libraries;
55,353 books have been given directly to participating children for their home libraries; and volunteers have spent 60,525 hours volunteering at the reading clubs (for a "dollar value" of $1,073,355).
