Vehicle Donations
A new opportunity to help R2K is here! Elaine Lu and Jon Tomlin, longtime Reading to Kids volunteers, have recently decided to donate their older car to Reading to Kids!
We have established an arrangement with Donate For Charity to process our vehicle donations. They will arrange a free vehicle pickup, handle all the DMV issues, sell the vehicle at auction, and distribute the net proceeds to Reading to Kids. You?ll avoid the headache of selling a used vehicle, help support Reading to Kids, and receive a receipt entitling you to declare the fair market value of your vehicle as a tax deduction.
Sound good? We thought so!
This Year's Accomplishments
Volunteers have been asking since the New Year for an update on the "State of R2K"! So here are the latest facts and figures:
Reading to Kids now has 1,695 subscribers to its e-mail list -- that's about 660 more than last year -- almost 2 new subscribers for every day in 2003!
We donated over 1,400 teacher-selected books to school libraries in 2003!
Reading to Kids donated over 6,100 prize books to children attending the Reading Clubs!
We had 1,419 new applications in 2003, and 845 of those applicants have volunteered with us at least
once.
Overall, we had an over 20% increase from 2002-2003 in the number of volunteers participating and a 26% increase in the number of children participating!
Our program is going places! Thanks for all your support!
