Synopsis: After a fire destroys their home and possessions, Rosa, her mother, and grandmother save and save until they can afford to buy one big, comfortable chair that all three of them can enjoy.

Discussion topics: To be posted soon ...

Craft ideas:
•  Draw/ cut out a big chair, and describe and draw your mother or grandmother inside.
•  Draw a jar of coins, and label each coin with a new vocabulary word from the story. If you saved coins in a jar for a whole year, what would you buy?
•  What would you give to the family in the story to help make a home after their house burned down? Draw!

*Note: These craft ideas are just suggestions. You can use them, but you don't have to use them. You can expand upon them, or add your own twist. Remember, though, that the focus of your time should not be on the development and execution of a craft; the focus should be on the read-aloud and the enjoyment of the book!
